The busier resorts and hotels near Heraklion in the north of Crete are great for some fun in the sun, all offering a vast array of pleasure water sports. Choose from parasailing, water skiing, windsurfing, banana boats, ringos, pedaloes, canoes, kayaks and speed boats.
For families head for one of Crete's water parks. The largest of these, Water City, lies 10 kilometres from Heraklion airport and features a huge wave pool, waterslides, children's pool, playground with toys plus shops and restaurants. Aqua Splash near Hersonissos and the Varypetro Water Park near Chania both boast black holes, kamikazes, crazy rivers, slides for all ages plus bars and restaurants.
